Mike Hall director
Jiggs Whigham trombone
Jiggs Whigham is an internationally acclaimed trombonist, band leader and educator.
He first came to the attention of critics and fans alike at the tender age of 17, as featured soloist and first trombonist with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, directed by Ray McKinley. In addition, he has worked with the likes of Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Ray Charles and Sarah Vaughn, to name just a few. Jiggs is also the conductor of the BBC Big Band, as well as being a visiting tutor at the RNCM, and tonight he teams up with our very own Big Band to pay homage to the Great American Songbook, celebrating the fabulous music of George Gershwin, Cole Porter and their contemporaries.
