Both a conductor and harpsichordist, with a dynamic and diverse repertoire ranging from the Baroque to the 19th and 20th Centuries, Nichloas Kraemer is a man of many talents.
Currently holding the impressive positions of Permanent Guest Conductor of the Manchester Camerata and Principal Guest Conductor of Music of the Baroque, Nicholas Kraemer began his career as a harpsichordist before moving to the front of the stage to direct from the harpsichord.
His repertoire contains music not only from the Baroque period, but also modern works from the 18th and 19th Centuries, which he included during his time with the English Chamber Orchestra in the 1970s.
Now directing from the keyboard and conducting, Kraemer’s hectic schedule carries him all over the world: throughout Europe, North America and Japan. His array of opera engagements have most recently included The Magic Flute and Handel’s Jephtha for English National Opera, Agrippina for Theater Aachen and L’Incoronazione di Poppea for Central City Opera, Colorado.
Concert engagements have included Handel’s Belshazzar with the Berlin Philharmonic, the St John Passion with the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Beethoven Symphonies with the Hallé. He also regularly performs with the St Paul Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Baroque and Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa.
Nicholas also founded The Raglen Baroque Players, and managed to find time to contribute to several feature films, most notably as Baroque music director for The Madness of King George.
